What is margin?

Margin is essentially collateral for a position and is often expressed as a percentage of the full amount of the chosen position.

Most margin requirements are estimated to be 2%, 1%, 0.5% and 0.25%, allowing traders to take on leveraged positions with a fraction of the equity necessary to fund the trade.
